From sow's ear to silk purse?

How often do you know what you want to write but can't get the style, the tone and the words right? David Tebbutt bridges the gap for you. He specialises in creating an enjoyable and informative read from your own material, whether it's a 'first draft' or raw ideas.

An example

A well-known public institution needed to get 'buy-in' to a sustainability project from its trustees and other stakeholders. Knowing David's long track record of success as an editor and writer, the head of communications asked him to help. He delivered a very readable 32-page A4 mini-book which helped secure the trustees' agreement to the project. This led to further work on other publications for the same organisation.

While at Freeform Dynamics, David was the lead author of a 'Green IT for Dummies' mini-book, sponsored by HP and published by Wiley. He also wrote a Green IT mini-book for the ICAEW (Institute for Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) which focused primarily on resource efficiency and cost savings.

David has done extensive editing and polishing work, a lot of it anonymously, over the years. Here's what the chairman of a trade body had to say: "David was easy to work with and did an excellent job of editing and rewriting a messy document with some good content into the coherent mini-book with clear messages that the committee was after. If you need someone to cut through the jargon and turn your draft in to direct, plain English then David is highly recommended."
